One day short hiking tour to Yuksam, Tashiding, Pelling, Khechupelri lake.
This is an ideal one day hiking tour in Sikkim. This short hiking trip is best suited for those who wanted to cover more places in shorter period of time. During this hiking tour one will visit Monasteries, Lakes, Tribal Villages and some specticular View points.
This is a typical one day private tour of around 8 hours, which involves both driving and hiking.
The tour starts early morning from Yuksam, to Tashiding to Khechupelri lake and then to Pelling.

Day 1
Sikkim One Day Hiking and Tour Yuksam After Tea visit Dubdi monastery located at the top of hill. Dubdi monastery is an oldest and one of the most influential monastery in Sikkim. It was also known as the Hermit's Cell after its ascetic founder Lhatsun Namkha Jigme, who along with two other lamas from Tibet met at Norbugang near Yuksom and crowned Phuntsog Namgyal as the first King or Chogyal of Sikkim at Norbugang Yuksom in 1642. The literal meaning of 'Dubdi' in local language is "the retreat".After the visit drive back to visit Kathok lake located at the heart of yuksam village. Coronation throne is just a couple of minutes walk from the lake. Tashiding Later after breakfast drive for a visit to Tashiding monastery. Tashiding monastery “The Devoted Central Glory” and the monastery by this name was founded in 1641 by Ngadak Sempa Chempo Phunshok Rigzing who belonged to the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Ngadak was one of the three wise men who held the consecration ceremony crowning the first King of Sikkim at Yuksom. It was extended and renovated in 1717 during the reign of the third Chogyal Chakdor Namgyal. Bhumchu Ceremony' or festival is a popular religious festival that is held on the 14th and 15th day of the first month of Tibetan Calendar. Khechupelri lake After lunch at Tashiding drive on for a visit to Khechupelri lake. Khechupelri means “ the wishing lake”. It is widely and commonly believed that once you visit the lake all wish in your mind will be fulfilled. The water in this lake is placid and crystal clear. Not even a single leaf can be seen floating on the surface of the water surface although there is a beautiful dense forest above the lake. It is said that if a leaf drops on the surface of the water it is picked by a bird. Khechupelri has two monastery, one on the top of the hill and one close to the lake. Pelling After a visit to Khechupelri lake head on for a visit to Pelling. Pelling is one of a a famous hill station of India and specially famous among the Indian Tourist. Here one can visit Pemayangtse Monastery, Sangacholin Monastery & Rabdentshe Place ruins. PEMAYANGTSE MONASTERY is located less than a kilometre from pelling. It is a most important monastery of the Nyingmapa order and was first built as a small temple in the late seventeenth century by Latsun Chembu. Later it was built into big monastery by the third incarnation of lama Lhatsun chembu.The monastery houses numerous religious idols and other objects of worship, most of which are priceless because of there antiquity.One the most important, significant and famous sculpture of the monastery is a WOODEN sculpture portraying the MAHAGURU'S HEAVENLY PALACE SANGTHOKPALRI. It is a hand made sculpture by a single Rimpoche and is a treat to watch. The main dance of the monastery is on the 28th and 29th day of the 12th month of the tibetan calander,normally corresponding to the month of February three days before losar (buddhist new year). Afterwards continue drive to Darjeeling. SANGACHOLIN MONASTERY also do have a higher status and is regarded as the second oldest monastery in sikkim after DUBDI MONASTERY at yuksam. RABDENTSE PALACE RUINS is an hour or bit more walk from PEMAYANGTSE MONASTERY and was a second capital of sikkim. Here one can have a closer look of the ruins of old palace and its structure. After the visit drive back to Yuksam the same way or stay for night in Pelling… One can stay at Pelling or either choose to drive back to Yuksam!
