    Assistance on arrival and followed to transfer by representative to hotel for overnight.

    Delhi ( Sightseeing )

    After Breakfast tour breifing by India Insight Staff after briefing followed full day sightseeing of Jama Mosque, Red Fort, Gandhi Museum, Government Building, (India Gate, Indian President House, Parliament House) PM Qutab Minar & Humayn Tombe. Jama Mosque : The great mosque of Old Delhi is both the largest in India and he final architectural extravagance of Shah Jahan. Begun in 1644 the mosque was not completed until 1658. It has three great gateways, four angle towers and tow minarets standing 40 m high and is constructed of alternating vertical strips of red sandstone and white marble. The courtyard of the mosque and hold 25,000 people. Red Fort : The red sand stone walls of Lal Qila, the Red Fort, extend for 2km and vary in height from 18m on the river side 33m on the city side. Shah Jahan started construction of the massive for in 1638 and it was completed in 1648, Lahore Gate: the mail gate to the fort takes its name from the fact that it faces towards Lahore….. During the struggle for Independence one of the nationalists' declarations was that they would see the Indian flag flying over the Red Fort. Diwan-I-Am : The hall of Pulic Audiences was where the emperor would sit to hear complaints for disputes from his subjects. His alcove in the wall was marble paneled and set with precious stone, many of which were looted following the 1857 Indian Uprising. Diwan-I-Khas : The hall of Private Audiences, constructed of white marble. Was the luxurious chamber where the emperor would hold private meeting. Royal Bath : Next to the Diwan-I-Khas are the Hammams or bath - three large rooms surmounted by domes, with a fountain in the centre- one of which was set up as a sauna. Shahi Burj : This modest, three-storey octagonal tower at the north-eastern edge of the fort was once Shah Jahan's private working area. Moti Masjid : Built in 1659 by Aurangzeb for his own personal use and security. The small and totally enclosed Pearl Mosque. RajGhat :: The bank of Yamuna a simple square plat from of black marble marks the spot where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948…… India Gate : This 42 m high stone arch of triumph stand sat the eastern end of the Rajpath… it bears the name of 85,000 Indian army soldiers who died in the campaigns of World War First. Rashtrapati Bhavan : The official residence of the president of India stands at the opposite end of Rajpath. Completed in 1929 the palace like building is an interesting blend of Mughal and Western architectural style. The number of servants needed to maintained the 340 rooms. The north & South Secretariat building are on either side to Rajpath. Sansad Bhavan : Although another large and imposing building Sansad Bhavan the Indian parliament building. Humayun Tomb, & Qutab Minar. Humayun's Tomb built in the mid 16th century by Haji Begum the Persian - born senior wife of Hamayun the second Mughal experor this is a wonderful early example of Mughal architecture. The elements in its design a squat building. High arched entrance that let in light, topped by a bulbous dome and surrounded by formal gardens. Qutab Minar : The building is the complex. Date onset of Muslim rule in India and are fine examples of early Afghan architecture. The Qutb Minar itself is a soaring tower of victory that was started in 1193, immediately after defeat of the last Hindu kingdom in Delhi. The tower has five distinct storys each marked by a projecting balcony. The first three storeys are made of red sand stone. The forth f& fifth of marble and sandstone. Although Qutb-ud-din began construction of the tower. He only got to the first storey. His successors completed it and in 1368 Firoz Shah rebuilt the top storys and added a cupola. Quwwat-ul Islam Masjid : At the foot of the Qutb Minar stands the first mosque to be built in India, the might of Islam mosque. Altamish, Qutb-ud-din's son-in-low surrounded the original mosque with a cloistered court. Iron Pillar : This 7m high pillar stands in the courtyard of the mosque and has been there since long before the mosque's construction a six line Sanskrit inscription indicates that it was initially erected outside a Vishnu temple. Rest of the day for leisure walk in the city center. Overnight at hotel.

    Dehi /Kalka/Manali

    After early breakfast drive vice versa to New Delhi Railway Station, for in time train to Kalka Shatabadi Exp. ETD 0740 hrs and arrival at Kalka around at 1200 hrs. Then continue drive to Manali, 275km/06-07 hrs. from Kalka. Through the himalayan village. O/n hotel.

    Manali

    After breakfast Half day local excursion of the" Queen of the mountain "Situated at an altitude of 1965m. (6730ft) On the west bank of the Beas River, it makes an idyllic stop before heading on over the Rohtang Pass the barren mountain landscapes beyond. This rapidly expanding resort caters for both Western and Indian people. Lush orchards and dark forests, typical of the fertile Kullu Valley, surround it and it has enticing views to the north to snow-capped 6000m. Peaks. The three km north is the attractive village of Old Manali, its peaceful surroundings, a good view from there the main city of Manali, Vashist, 03 km north-east of Manali, although the main reason for visiting is to soak in the hot springs. 12 km north another small village Jagatsukh, that was the former capital Kullu and the site of ancient temples The Shiva temple in Shikhara style and nearby old Devi Sharvali Temple, decocted to the Goddess Gayatri (a sister of Durga) walk one km from the heart of the town and visit the 600 years old Hadimba Devi Temple with a four tiered pagoda shaped roof, a somber, wooden shrine set in a cedar grove. According to the Mahabharata Bhima, who wanted to marry Hadimba, first had to kill cruel demon brother Hadimba that he did in this grove. Another exterior and door covered with handsome carvings received a dubious token of gratitude from the king. He was so enamored with the result; he cut off the artist's hand to prevent him from duplicating another temple that might rival the Hadimba. The influx of Tibetan refugees in Manali has left its stamp on the town. The new Tibetan Monastery just behind the bus stop, in an area called Model Town and adjoining it the Tibetan Bazaar, are examples. Over night at Hotel.

    Day 5

    Manali / Jispa

    After an early breakfast at 0730 hrs commence morning drive 6 -7 hrs to Jispa 140 kms. Over the Rohtang pass 3990m. Lahaul valley is quite rocky & barren & totally opposite to the lush green Kullu valley, the people of this valley are mainly Buddhists & the local society still follows the ancient culture of polygamy!!!! The first part of the climb from Manali of about 51 kms brings us to the top of Rohtang pass, which offers panoramic views of the snow capped mountains on a clear day. From here on the road descends 21 kms into Lahaul valley to the first village of Koksar, where passports are checked. Normally Lunch break is taken at Koksar due to its numerous small restaurants. From here the drive continues past several Lahauly villages & among them the most prominent being Sissu & Gondla. The vehicle stops at Keylong, which is the capital town of the valley for clients to walk around this town & markets to get a insight into this wonderful community. From Keylong we continue on to Jispa village, just before Jispa stop to visit the Gemur monastery which is perched high above the village, it is a good 20 minutes walk from the road but the monastery & the views from the top are very rewarding. Continue on to Jispa or one can even walk 6 kms. On arrival check into Hotel Jispa. Rest of the time is at leisure to walk around Jispa village & visit the local monastery. Overnight at Ibex Hotel

    Jispa / Sarchu (6-7 HRS)

    fter a leisurely breakfast around 0900 hrs commence drive to Sarchu (4250m) 120 kms 4-5 hrs over the spectacular Barlachla pass (4998m) on arrival check into North Quest fixed tented camp for overnight

    Day 7

    Sarchu/Leh

    Early breakfast at 0700 hrs in camp, commence the long drive to Leh, 220 /9-10 hrs drive over some of the highest passes on this road & through the southern tip of the Tibetan plateau cross the highest pass on this road & second highest pass in the world called the Tanglang la (5359m/17,582ft). Arrival in Leh in the evening. On arrival check in hotel for overnight.

    Leh Half Day Sightseeing

    After breakfast visit Shankar Gompa, Shanti Stupa & Tsemo Castle, Shankar Gompa first Gelukpa (yellow hat) monastery to be established in ladakh. Richen zangpo predicted that a monastery would be founded here that would set and example to the other monasteries in the land. As it is situated in middle in the Leh town. Shanti stupa visible from most of the town this new stupa was officially opened in 1985 the peace pagoda is part of the legacy of the Japanese Fuji Guru. Tsemo Castle called the victory tower in Ladakh. Rest of the dey local markets. Overnight at hotel.

    Day 9

    Leh Full day sightseeing : Shey/Thisey & Stok Palace

    After breakfast drive toward Hemis around 45 km from Leh, En route visit Shey, & Thiksey monasteries accompanied by local English speaking guide : - Shey was the old capital and the home of the kings of Ladakh before the new capital became established in Leh the palace sits in a strategic position on a spur jutting out into the Indus valley. the main temple contains a large Buddha statue sculpted by Nepalese craft men. Thiksey, this large Gompa is an impressive sight, situated on top of a craggy hill while the rest of the complex sprawls down beneath it. it was founded in the 15th century by Gelukpa monks. Stok, 14 kms southeast of Leh, is a place, where the present day royal family resides. King Tsespal Tondup Namgyal built Stok palace & Museum in the year 1825, after Zorawar Singh's annexation of Ladakh. The royal family resides here since Ladakh lost to Zorawar Singh. At present the palace has a collection of royal dresses, old Thankas, King's crown etc. that is open for visitors. Gurphuk Gonpa, a branch of Spituk Monastery is a little away from the palace, which is famous for its festival "Guru Tsechu" held on the 9th and 10th of the 1st month of Tibetan Calendar.

    Leh/Spitok/Jingchan: (12,375 Ft/3750 M) .(12 kms, 5 hrs trek)

    The Trek Begin On This Day. The Car Will Drive You Spitok Village About 15 Minutes Drive 7 Kms From Leh. Start Trek From Spituk To Jingchin For The First Two Hours You Will Be Walking On Flat Surface Which Is Good Fr Acclimatization Later You Will Enter Into The Jingchin Valley Following The River On The Left Bank Up Stred Jinchen Is Small Village With One Family Divided Into Three Houses. Afternoon To Explore Around Jinchen & Acclimatization. Meal & Overnight Camp.

    Jingchin/Yurutse ( 14,124 Ft/4280m)

    (5-6 hrs Trek), After Breakfast Start Trek, The Initial Part Of The Trail Gradually Ascends It Is One Of The Beautiful Walks & Is Also Know As The Snow-Leopard Area & You May Come Across Lot Of Wild Life On This Days Walk. At The End Of The Gorge You Will Reach Rumbak Village & From Here On The Trail Continues On The Right To The Tiny Settlements On Yurutse. Camp Is Set A Little Beyond This At The Foot Of Gandhala.

    Day 12

    Yurutse/Skiu ( 10,378 ft/ 3145m)

    (7-8 hrs Trek) The Climb To Gandhala(16,097 Ft/4,920m) Follow the mail trail that heads to the true right of the valley. from the highest campsite about 03 km from Yurutse village. Take the right trail to ascend the yak pasture towards the pass. From the Gandla 4920 m view extend south to the Zanskar Range and the distant summits of the Himalaya Range. After the initial descent the trail leads to the true right to the valley to the out laying village Singo village (4090 m) From Singo the trail heads into a narrow gorge, the initial descent is on the true left of the valley. before the trail regularly recesses the stream throughout the 5 -6 km stage to Skiu. The wall of the gorge are particularly impressive, while the willow poplar and rose bushes. On arrival at Skiu visit the gompa, mark the confluence of Shingo & Markha river. overnight at camp.

    Skiu/Markha (12,797 Ft/3,878m) : 6 Hrs.

    Very Pleasant Walk Up One Of The Loveliest Sections Of The Markha Valley. Markha Is One Of The Biggest In This Valley. The Way Through Woody Bushes Thickly Along The River Which Is A Spanned By Several Small Bridges Over Which The Trail Marches To Thinlespa. The Camp Is Set After Thinlespa 1 N Half Hrs We Set The Camp Beneath The Markha Village The Landscape Is Very Nice Evening We Enjoy And Drink Local Wine With Villagers .The Camp Along With Markha River.

    Markha/Thachunche (14,097 ft/4,250m) : (4-5 hrs trek)

    The Trail Continues Eastwards, Climbing Steadily Up The Valley Through The Picturesque Village Of Markha And Its Interesting Monastery, Which Is Worth Visiting. Coming In From The South Is The Trail From Rubering La One Of The Routes To Zangla In Zanskar, From Markha The Country Changes And The And The Warm Relatively Heavily Wooded Section Of The Lower Markha Is Left Behind The Camp Below The Twin Villages Of Lower And Upper Hankar Is Distinctively Cooler Than At Thinlespa. Between The Two Villages Is A Ruined Fort The Walls Of Which Climb Sharply Up A Crag To An Ceric Of A Lookout Tower Worth Visiting For Those With An Exceptionally Good Head For Heights. Camp After 3 Kl From Hankar Village. En Route We Pass Some Small Villages You Can Say That Houses . This Trek Is Little Bit Ascending And We Watch The Wild Animals Like Himalayan Marmot, Deer . And White Tail Hare. Over Night Stay Near By A Small Stream. That One Come From The Base Of Kansyatse.

    Thachunche/Nimaling : (16,097ft/4,878 M) (4 hrs Trek)

    From Thachunche Camp Join The Normal Trail Back To Nimaling Past Villages Seemingly Poorer Than Those Of Lower Areas. The Nimaling Plain Is A Broad Undulating Meadow Which Slopes Upwards To The Base Of Ice Clad Kangyatse Which Dominate The Area . Nimaling With Tiny Ponds And Rivulets Flowing All Over Its Meadows, You Find Numbers Of Animals Like Yak, Dzos, Sheep, Goats, Horses And Himalayan Marmots And White Tailed Hares Are Seen.

    Nimaling/Shang Sumdho (13,230 Ft/3,973 M)

    Crossing To The North Of Markha Begin The Climb Up To The Highest Of The Three Passes Kongmarula(17,409 Ft/5,274 M)With Its Wonderful Views From The Top. The Trial Descends Steeply To The Head Of Martselang Valley Pasty The Sulphur Springs Of Chuskyurmo And Follows The Martselang Stream To The Village Of Sumdho At The Confluence Of The Shang Nala And The Martselang. Overnight In Camping.

    Sumdho/Hemis/Leh : 01 hrs trek + drive

    Hrs An Easy Descent Mainly Along The True Left Bank Of The Martselang To Where It Broadens Into The Valley Of The Indus At The Village Of Martselang. The Jeep Waits For You At The Village Of Martselang And Drive You Hemis Monastery. Hemis, this is the richest monastery in the Indus valley this is famous for it's annual festival Hemis festival is celebrated on the 10th day (Tses-Chu) of the Tibetan lunar month and lasts for two days. The festival occurs only once in 12 years (as per the Tibetan calendar it takes place in the year of the Monkey). During the Hemis festival, a two story high "Thankga," a religious icon painted or embroidered on cloth, depicting Padmasambahava is ritually exhibited. This year, i.e., 2004 will again witness Ladakh getting ready to unveil the "Thankga" and celebrating the auspicious occasion on June 17-18, 2005.... people can witness excellent masked dances that are performed to the beats of cymbals, drums & long horns. A colorful fair. Later drive to Leh. On arrival check in hotel for overnight.
